Specsavers battering ram car

To create a sequence demonstrating the toughness of a new range of lenses for children's glasses, it was proposed to set up a lens in a vaguely laboratory-like setting, and have a modified radio controlled car crash into the lens to "test" it.

The bodywork of a standard radio controlled car was given an extensive re-working by talented modelmaker Matt Walters, and it was my job to work out the mechanical aspects of the project.

The battering ram was attached to a rig mounted to the floor of the car, and this in turn connected to a "keel" component that ran down a slot in a table, so that the car could follow an accurate path. The slot was later removed in post production.
